Jenn Clark

Jenn Clark began singing at age 13 and writing songs around age 16 and has competed in many competitions, performed on live TV and in showcases in Los Angeles, appeared in music videos, radio stations, on TV shows, as well as cutting her own CD all before the age of 18. Jenn has always been inspired by the music of the 1950’s and 1960’s, and that influence is evident in her music today. Jenn began writing her own music early on, and has continued to develop into a creative and envisioned composer and songwriter. She moved to Las Vegas in 1999, and around 2006 began to record her own music in studios. In 2010, Jenn was approached by a Music Producer, Keith Cooper, in Los Angeles, where they worked together on her projects in LA. Jenn was in the studio where she and Keith put a 5 song CD together to submit to various record labels. She enjoys doing events around her city in Las Vegas, including performing in outreach events for the Homeless and American Cancer Society. Jenn has also been on the Vocal Team leading worship for the past several years at 2 churches, leading worship at a nursing home every other weekend for 2 years, and most recently was called for a live audition at T Mobile Arena for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Sharing God's music with others, is where her heart is the fullest, and Jenn is currently writing Christian songs to add to her list of originals.
Interview With Jenn
Where are you from? I was born in Bishop California, and spent most of my childhood in the Pismo Beach area of California, and have lived in Las Vegas since 1999.
How long have you been making music? I started writing my own songs while in High School.
How many songs /albums have you released to date? I have written at least a dozen songs, and have released 2 albums.
Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it? So Through was written nearly 10 years ago. Being taken for granted, or having someone play games with you, is one of the hardest things to experience, and a person can only take so much before they need to turn and walk away. It was written with the idea, that you need to find the strength to decide you are worth more than that.
How have you ended up in the music industry? I first started singing in Middle School, starting with talent shows. My freshman year of high school, I started working with Merrell Fankhauser, who produced an album I made with my mom. From there, I started writing my own music, and then recording it. I went from TV interviews, to radio show interviews, performed in showcases, and have spent much of my time singing at churches, nursing homes, and organizing local community music events.
What do you think of the music industry in 2018? It is a constantly changing world for music. I love all the opportunities that are available to aspiring artists,
that weren't there years ago.
Who do you think the most influential artist? One of the most influential artists to me, is Johnny Cash. Although he had some rough times, he lived to inspire others because of those hard times. Never judgmental, and always a voice for the hurt.
Who have you collaborated with so far in your career? Merrell Fankhauser, Keith Cooper, and John Falbo.
How do you think you differ from other artists? I put God first in my life, I respect myself and those around me. I don't take opportunities for granted, and I'm genuine. I write from the heart and hope to bring comfort to others through music. I have been singing for a long time, but when I sing, I feel it. I'm telling a story, either mine specifically, or someone else's.
Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration? Definetely Johnny Cash.
What was the first album you bought? The first album I ever bought was The Monkees, even though they were technically "oldies" back then, I still loved their songs and harmonies. My parents brought me up with good music!
What’s your favourite song at the moment? One of my favorite songs right now is Tin Man by Miranda Lambert.
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer? It wouldn't be one particular artist, it would have to be a compilation Christian album. For inspiration, courage, and a daily reminder of who I am and where I came from.
What is your favourite saying? The Will of God, will not take you, where the Grace of God, will not protect you.
What other hobbies or interests do you have? I love riding my dirt bike, traveling, going to movies, fishing, camping, hiking, and most importantly spending time with my family.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings? Yes, both.
Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project? I am very excited to be releasing So Through. I have seen so many movies where I could just hear this song playing in the background. I would love to have it heard by as many people as possible, through as many avenues as it can go.
What’s in the pipeline after this project? After this project, I would love to focus on my Christian songs. Although I have not recorded any of these songs in the studio yet, I am planning to do so very soon. There is nothing like singing a song, and feeling every emotion from it, and seeing it affect those around you. That's where my heart is.
Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.
