INTERVIEW WITH ELVIN COLE
Where are you from?
I’m from Reading in the UK. How long have you been making music? I’ve been making music since I was old enough to hold my first guitar! How many songs /albums have you released to date? To date I have released 8 singles. Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it? I’m really opposed to the horror and the idea of war atomic weapons and ultimate power. My last release was a way of expressing my thoughts about this! How have you ended up in the music industry? See the Beatles in the film “Help” when I was younger. This inspired me to be a musician and I knew then that was what I wanted. What do you think of the music industry in 2018? I think the music industry is changing very fast, maybe a bit too fast with the new technology today. Still trying to work out if it’s a good thing or not! My hope is that those really good and talented artists out there do not have suffer as a consequence. Who do you think the most influential artist? Honestly I can’t say that there is one artist that shines out above all others just because there are so many brilliant artists in their own right but if I had to pick one I would say David Bowie for the contribution he has made to the world of music not forgetting the Beatles of course! Who have you collaborated with so far in your career? No one really famous but I can say I have worked with some of the ex-members from the band Mungo Jerry well known for the hit “In The Summer Time” back in the seventies and an ex-members the band Love Affair. How do you think you differ from other artists? Well I would like to say I have an original and great sounding voice but so does everyone else. One thing I can say is I am proud of my guitar playing ability and I feel I have worked hard to get to where I am today! Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration? Lol Marline Monroe! Seriously though I would like to work with so many different great artists and if I had a choice it would be somebody like John Lennon or Paul McCartney. What was the first album you bought? On The Level by Status Que I loved those guys they were great! |
What’s your favourite song at the moment?
I have so many favorite songs I like to listen too but at the moment I love listening to Tom Petty and especially Free Falling!
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your drawer?
That would have to be Back in Black by ACDC!
What is your favourite saying?
Feel the fear and do it any way!
What other hobbies or interests do you have?
I would have liked to have been a pro footballer but had to settle for the dream. Apart from that I like to do a bit of charity work in my spare time.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Don’t like Tattoos but I have one pierced left ear with a cross for an earring.
Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?
I’m planning to get back in the studio to record some new material I have soon.
What’s in the pipeline after this project?
Hopefully my next single for Sonorous Records and I will be touring later in the year but right now I’m interested in doing some more studio work.
Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.
